Program in Palestine for the Sunnmøre Folkehøgskule Global Safari class

27 Norwegians, the Global Safari class of the JAI partner YMCA-YWCA related Sunnmøre Folkehøgskule, had their program in Palestine with the JAI from the 25th of September to the 5th of October 2019.

sfhs2019 2Their program included briefing on the JAI, the Olive Tree Campaign, visit to Bethlehem University with touring and chatting with students, guided tour inside the Church of Nativity, free time in the old city of Bethlehem, visit and tour into the Tent of Nations threatened field, session with the head of the Norwegian Representative Office in the oPt, over night and hiking tour with the Bedouins, tour inside Beit Sahour old tour city, settlement-wall-bybass road guided tour, the Walled Off Hotel, Aida Refugee camp with chatting and touring around with refugee youth, meeting and chatting with the YMCA Youth Hub, Dabka Palestinian Folklore Dance show and practice.

sfhs2019 3In Ramallah, they had a briefing on the BDS Campaign, visit to Arafat's museum, introduction to popular resistance and meeting with the Tamimi family in Nabi Saleh village. In Hebron, a visit was made to a ceramic and glass Palestinian handmade factory, guided tour into the old city where they witnessed Israeli settlements, closures, checkpoints, closed shops, streets, as well as inside the Ibrahimi Mosque, and lunch at a threatened family's place. On another day the students did olive picking in Battir village, west of the Bethlehem area, with a family's threatened field, followed by a presentation by Badil Center on the ongoing displacement of Palestinians and refugees' right of return.
