Youth Just Peace

This program works for the information, education and mobilization of Palestinian youth and works with them for launching different campaigns and initiatives, using different tools, and executing different activities to raise awareness and become advocates for Just Peace.

3-day training for 22 Palestinian political ex-prisoners from the Tulkarem & Qalqilya areas

A 3-day training program, on the 18th-22nd of August 2019, was organized by the JAI for 22 Palestinian youth political ex-prisoners in the Israeli jails, from the Nablus and Qalqilya areas.

It tackled, on the first day, the history of the regional colorizations and Zionist occupation of Palestine, including the UN resolutions 1325 and 2250.

On the second day, the youth were trained on communication and advocacy skills, how o organize and lead campaigns. The third day tackled the role of youth in the community, how they could come up with positive change initiatives, and get their voice heard by decision makers.

The trainees came up with two initiatives they are planning to work for soon, one is educating school students in their areas on the importance of non-violence resistance, and the other on supporting those with special needs and how they should be integrated in their communities, with equal rights and facilities.

JAI train 8 youth in advocacy and BDS

A full day training program was conducted for a group of 6 female and 2 male youth, in the ages between 17 to 25, from the areas of Bethlehem, Nablus, Jenin and Ramallah, in Palestine. The training included the JAI advocacy work and campaigning, the history of boycotting Israeli as a strategy in the Palestinian struggle against occupation, the BDS campaign and what it calls for, and the various campaigns that supports the BDS movement, as well as the danger or normalization and the importance of anti-normalization.

 

BDS session for around 60 scout youth in Beit Sahour

On Friday the 5th of July 2019, a training session was conducted by the JAI to around 60 boys and girls, in the ages between 17 and 21, participants at the Beit Sahour Catholic Scout Group camp.

The training, given by the JAI youth coordinator, tackled the issues of the history of boycotting Israel, the Beit Sahour boycott committee, the importance of boycotting Israel as a mean of non-violent resistance, types of boycott (economic, cultural, academic, sport ...etc.), the threat of normalization activities/programs and the importance of anti-normalization.

Several questions then asked by the participants were answered by the JAI coordinator, including initiatives they could do as teenagers and youth.

Training on BDS and anti-normalization for 60 Palestinian students

A training session was organized on Thursday the 28th of March 2019 for 60 female and male students from St. (Mar) Afram Syriac Private Secondary School Bethlehem.

The session started on anti-tax movement in Beit Sahour in the late 1980s, as one of the clear history and background of the Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions (BDS) movement in Palestine, and how boycotting Israel is a non-violent resistance mechanism on the local and internal levels, towards ending the Israeli occupation and hold Israel accountable for international law and human rights. Then the BDS campaign as the wider Palestinian civil society call, with its various economic, cultural, sport and academic boycotts.

Then the students were introduced to the danger of normalization activities and programs with Israeli organizations, groups and entities. Students asked various questions and were very interactive and interested.

JAI trained 10 Kairos Palestine youth on BDS and anti-normalization

on Friday the 16th of November 2018, the JAI trained 10 Palestinian youth, through Kairos Palestine Initiative, from various areas in the West Bank.

The training focused on Boycott-Divestment-Sanctions (BDS) Campaign, introduction, history, its forms, levels, with examples of impacts on both the local and international levels. It also tackled the importance of having Kairos Palestine on the board of the BDS Campaign, where Kairos calls for BDS as a strategy to put pressure on Israel, towards achieving real peace with justice.

The danger of normalization (with Israelis) activities, and the importance of anti-normalization, was also introduced to the participants.

At the end, participant asked various related questions they had in mind.
